Ciudad Quesada – Alicante – España
Ciudad Quesada is an urban district of the community of Rojales (province of Alicante, Spain). Presently, it counts 16.345 inhabitants (source: INE, Spanish Statistics Agency, 2011).
Situated in the southern part of the Rojales community, we find Ciudad Quesada at about six kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. It is a new town, fruit of the dream of Justo Quesada, who created a great community from virtually nothing, including a community centre that operates as town hall. What started in 1972 as a number of unconnected housing estates, was formed into a real town. Nowadays it has all the service features, shops, leisure services, supermarkets, churches, schools, as well as a golf course and an Aquapark of its own.
The greater part of the population exists of foreigners, mainly Brits. The wonderful Spanish climate and the lifestyle at the Mediterranean coast have attracted thousands of foreigners to Ciudad Quesada over the past 40 years. The population increases every year. At present, 30.000 houses form Ciudad Quesada. A large part of the inhabitants though, is not registered or only use their properties as holiday homes.
